Propeller Residence
Loch Erin, MI
3,420 square feet
This home is as bright as its owner's personalities. Their love of color is not just seen in the home's nontraditional color palette, but also in their vast art collection of two and three dimensional pieces that were carefully curated throughout the design. Wanting to make a statement on the lakefront, the owners requested a blend of midwestern-contemporary with a Prairie Style aesthetic. The wings of this dynamic home revolve around the two-story kitchen, and project out at different elevations to integrate with the contours of the site. The windows throughout this home were located with great delicacy to provide views of the beautiful lake from each room while obscuring views from neighbors to maintain feelings of privacy and solitude.

The playful main level is the artists sanctum, complete with pewter countertops, wood trim details modeled after her own sketches, and an Italian cake oven. The lower level is the more-austere counterpart finished with polished terrazzo floors, stone fireplace, and concealed gun room.
